A LEI DE TERRAS DE 1850 NO CENTRO DA DISCUSSÃO: UM ELO COERCITIVO SOBRE AS FAMÍLIAS LIVRES E POBRES
Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar um processo que estava em curso a partir da promulgação da Lei de Terras de 1850. Esta lei permitiu aos proprietários darem início aos cadastramentos de suas posses e a atitude de registrar suas terras era reflexo das transformações sociais, políticas e econômicas ocorridas na sociedade imperial. Porém os efeitos dessas mudanças foram diversos e cada região reagiu à sua maneira. As declarações de terras efetuadas pela população livre da Freguesia de Cabaceiras revelam a ação da lei no interior da Paraíba oitocentista. Nas províncias cafeeiras a dinâmica ocupacional também foi afetada, a regulamentação da ocupação territorial alterou a relação da força de trabalho e os empreendimentos agrícolas. Portanto, é importante ressaltar os desdobramentos da promulgação dessa lei, seus resultados e consequências durante o período que concerne a discussão e efetivação do decreto.

Abstract:
This article aims to analyze a process that was in progress since the promulgation of Land Law in 1850. This law made possible the landowners to initiate the registration of their possessions and that atitude of registering their lands was a consequence of social, political and economics changes occurred in the imperial society. However that changes caused diverse effects and each region reacted in its own way. The land declarations made by the free people from the Parish of Cabaceiras reveal the law action in Paraiba hinterland in the nineteenth century. In coffee producers provinces the ocupation process also was affected and the legislation of territorial ocupation modified the workforce relationship and the agricultural enterprise. Therefore it’s important to emphasize the consequences of the promulgation of this law, its results and effects during the period of discussion and implementation of the decree.
