A invasão linguística normanda da Inglaterra

A língua inglesa existe há cerca de 15 séculos e pode ser didática e historicamente dividida em três períodos: Inglês Antigo (século V e XI), Inglês Médio (séculos XI a XVI) e Inglês Moderno (século XVI até a atualidade). Este estudo se concentra no início da fase do Inglês Médio, principalmente no século XI, para expor a influência do francês no idioma insular, a partir da conquista da Inglaterra por William I, de origem normanda. A título de contextualização, o trabalho apresenta breve histórico da língua inglesa, da formação do inglês antigo até o médio, ilustrado com produções literárias dos períodos. A pesquisa se fundamenta em pesquisa bibliográfica, sobretudo as obras de Viney (2008), Lima (2016) e Hradec (2020).

  • Abstract: English exists about since 15 centuries ago and can be didatic and historically  divided into three main historical periods: Old English (V - XI), Middle English (XI - XVI) and Modern English (XVI - nowadays). This issue focus on the beginning of Middle English, mainly on XI Century, in order to show the influende of French in the island language, from the conquest of England by William I, from Normandy. For context, this study introduces a brief English language history, from th formation of Old to the Middle, illustrated with literary examples of the periods. The research is bibliografic, particularly Viney (2008), Lima (2016) e Hradec (2020).
