Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has established itself as one of the most significant technological advancements of our time. ChatGpt, a generative AI model, stands out for its ability to interact, produce texts, and create content. However, its wide applicability, especially in academia, raises ethical dilemmas that demand analysis and the formulation of guidelines for its responsible use. Therefore, the objective of this work was to describe the benefits of AI and the ethical and responsible principles for the use of ChatGpt in education through a literature review. AI stands out for its ability to improve human life in various areas, such as healthcare, industrial automation, education, entertainment, and others. On the other hand, the negative impacts are also significant and require ethical and social reflection. Regarding ethical principles in the development and use of AI, it is fundamental to ensure privacy, transparency, and responsible use. A conscious approach should be adopted to avoid risks such as excessive dependence, reduced critical thinking, or inappropriate use of content. In academia, AI should be used as a complement, and the technology should support learning, not replace intellectual effort. It's important to use it to clarify doubts and explore different perspectives, but without abandoning reflection and the autonomous production of knowledge. The answers generated by AI can be superficial or inaccurate, which reinforces the importance of verifying data with reliable sources. Transparency must also be preserved, and it is important to clearly state when AI was used to identify human contributions and those supported by technology. In education, AI can alter teaching and learning methodologies, offering personalization and immediate feedback. These results reinforce that the ethical use of AI in education must respect clear limits: technology should act as support and not as a substitute for teaching practice. It was concluded that AI and ChatGpt can offer potential for the advancement of society, but it is essential that their development and use are guided ethically and by a culture of responsibility and transparency.
