A INSERÇÃO DOS CEMITÉRIOS NA HISTÓRIA DA CIDADE DE BELÉM NO SÉCULO XIX
Os cemitérios são espaços
arquitetônicos que acompanham o
desenvolvimento das cidades. Os processos de
modificação cultural vividos pelas sociedades,
principalmente na transição do século XVIII para
o século XIX, traz ideologias inovadoras que
alteram drasticamente os territórios visíveis das
cidades. As novas ideologias de racionalização,
avanço da medicina, secularização dos
cemitérios e laicização do estado, trazem a
sociedade oitocentista mudanças no modo de
vida, que resultam em uma negação da morte e
expulsão dos cemitérios, até então ao lado das
igrejas, para os limites da cidade, transformandoos
em territórios existentes, mas invisíveis ao
centro urbano. Utilizando a História Urbana
para ilustrar tais mudanças, estas ferramentas
permitem uma amplitude mais interdisciplinar
da pesquisa. Este trabalho tem como objetivo
explicar as dinâmicas que ocorreram com a
construção dos cemitérios e a cidade do século
XIX, embasado no percurso de desenvolvimento
das cidades. Para desenvolvimento deste
trabalho, os procedimentos metodológicos
utilizados foram a pesquisa histórica, através de
análises comparativas sobre os autores. Tanto
a vida quanto a morte refletem a interação da
arquitetura com a vida humana. Os contextos
históricos, crenças, ciências, normas sanitárias
e afins, interferem e constroem a concepção e
execução dos cemitérios até os dias atuais.

Abstract:
Cemeteries are architectural
spaces that folow the development of cities.
The processes of cultural change experienced
by societies, especially in the transition from
the eighteenth to the nineteenth century, bring
innovative ideologies that drastically alter the
visible territories of cities. The new ideologies
of rationalization, the advancement of medicine,
the secularization of cemeteries and the
laicization of the state, bring the nineteenth
century society changes in the way of life,
which result in a denial of death and expulsion
from cemeteries, until then alongside the
churches, to the limits of the city, transforming
them into existing territories, but invisible to the
urban center. Using Urban History to illustrate
such changes, these tools allow for a more
interdisciplinary range of research. This work
aims to explain the dynamics that occurred with
the construction of cemeteries and the city of
the nineteenth century, based on the course of
development of cities. For the development of this work, the methodological procedures
used were the historical research, through comparative analyzes on the authors. Both
life and death reflect the interaction of architecture with human life. Historical contexts,
beliefs, sciences, sanitary norms and the like, interfere and construct the design and
execution of cemeteries to the present day.
