A INFRAESTRUTURA URBANA DE TRANSPORTES E O AQUECIMENTO GLOBAL: UM ESTUDO SOBRE POSSÍVEIS MEDIDAS DE MITIGAÇÃO
O setor de transportes é responsável por uma parcela significativa da contribuição antrópica ao crescente aumento de temperatura da superfície terrestre. Ainda que a emissão de gases de efeito estufa seja a principal fonte de impacto do setor as mudanças climáticas, esta não é a única. Este artigo analisa o impacto da infraestrutura urbana do setor de transportes no aquecimento global desenvolvendo um estudo de caso da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Paralelamente à análise dos impactos de sua infraestrutura, o estudo apresenta medidas mitigadoras como técnicas de geoengenharia e o planejamento urbano integrado ao sistema de transportes como formas de minimizar os impactos do setor de transportes nas mudanças climáticas.

Abstract:
The transport sector is responsible for a significant portion of the anthropic contribution to the rising temperature of the earth's surface. While greenhouse gas emissions are the industry's main source of climate change impact, it is not the only source. This paper analyzes the impact of urban transport infrastructure on global warming by developing a case study of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Parallel to the analysis of the impacts of its infrastructure, the study presents mitigating measures such as geoengineering techniques as ways to minimize the impacts of the transport sector on climate change.
