Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To analyze how nursing care influences the quality of life of cancer patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An integrative literature review was conducted between September and October 2024, aiming to answer the following guiding question: How does nursing care influence the quality of life of cancer patients? For this purpose, searches were conducted in the MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF, SCIELO, and Science Direct databases using the descriptors “Cancer,” “Nursing Care,” and “Quality of Life,” combined with the boolean operator AND, within a time frame from 2019 to 2024. To enhance data collection efficiency, the Rayyan software, developed by the Qatar Computing Research Institute, was utilized. Data extraction was performed with the aid of an instrument developed by nursing researchers, and the articles were classified into six levels of evidence and organized using the PRISMA strategy. RESULTS: The main results of this study highlight that the quality of life of oncology patients is negatively impacted by disease progression and physical and psychosocial symptoms associated with treatment. Fatigue, insomnia, and depression were the most prevalent symptoms, while spirituality emerged as a positive factor in improving quality of life. Palliative care, individualized nursing interventions, and support strategies demonstrated potential to alleviate symptoms, strengthen self-efficacy, and improve specific aspects of the physical and emotional well-being of patients and caregivers. CONCLUSION: Strengthening nursing actions based on theoretical models and evidence-based guidelines is essential to improving quality of life and providing comprehensive care to cancer patients and their caregivers.
