Abstract: Strength training has been considered a tool for increasing lean mass and muscle strength in individuals who suffer from muscular atrophy, caused by a sedentary lifestyle, and/or long periods of bed rest. However, there is no consensus within the literature on the possible strength training protocol most appropriate for these objectives. Therefore, the present study aims to carry out an integrative review in order to elucidate a possible strength training protocol that is effective in improving muscle strength and reducing fatigue during and after breast cancer treatment. The articles used in this integrative review were found in the PubMed, Scielo and Lilacs databases. There were no language restrictions or publication date limits. The searches were guided by combining the following terms: 1- Breast neoplasms and physical exercise or physical activity, 2- breast neoplasms and exercise, PubMed (n=1,181), scielo (n=1,222), Lilacs (n=83) , Studies potentially included (n=171), Studies Included (n=5). The possible training protocol that seems to be most effective is at least 12 weeks of intervention with moderate to high intensity, with exercises that include the lower and upper limbs, and abdominals. We conclude that strength training with moderate to high intensity demonstrates the best results in muscle strength and fatigue.
