A INFLUÊNCIA DO ALEITAMENTO MATERNO NO QUOCIENTE DE INTELIGÊNCIA (QI) E NEURODESENVOLVIMENTO DAS CRIANÇAS: REVISÃO DA LITERATURA
Objetivo: Identificar de que forma o aleitamento materno tem influência no nível de Quociente de Inteligência (QI) e neurodesenvolvimento. Método: Revisão Integrativa da Literatura, através da metodologia PICOD formulando a questão de investigação “De que forma o aleitamento materno influencia o nível de Quociente de Inteligência (QI) e neurodesenvolvimento, em crianças com idade igual ou inferior a 15 anos?”, com recurso aos motores de busca B-on, EBSCOhost e PubMed. Os artigos selecionados foram publicados entre 2016 e 2021. Resultados: Resultante desta pesquisa surgiram 2 165 artigos, após aplicação dos critérios de inclusão, foram selecionados 287 artigos não duplicados. Posteriormente, após leitura do título dos artigos, apenas 28 artigos foram selecionados, por cumprir os critérios de inclusão. Como forma de exclusão, foi realizada a leitura do título e resumo dos mesmos, sendo que, apenas 5 artigos cumpriam todos os critérios. Conclusão: Os estudos selecionados evidenciam que crianças amamentadas têm um Quociente de Inteligência (QI) e neurodesenvolvimento mais elevado, comparando com crianças não amamentadas. Tendo também em conta a duração do aleitamento materno exclusivo, ou seja, quanto maior for o tempo que a criança recebe leite materno de forma exclusiva, maior é o seu Quociente de Inteligência (QI) e/ou neurodesenvolvimento.

Abstract:
Objective: To identify how breastfeeding influences the level of Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and neurodevelopment. Method: Integrative Literature Review, through the PICOD methodology formulating the research question “How does breastfeeding influence the level of Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and neurodevelopment, in children aged 15 years or less?”, using the search engines B-on, EBSCOhost and PubMed. The selected articles were published between 2016 and 2021. Results: As a result of this research, 2 165 articles appeared, after applying the inclusion criteria, 287 non-duplicated articles were selected. Subsequently, after reading the title of the articles, only 28 articles were selected, as they met the inclusion criteria. As a form of exclusion, the title and summary of the same were read, with only 5 articles fulfilling all the criteria. Conclusion: The selected studies show that breastfed children have a higher Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and neurodevelopment compared to non-breastfed children. Also considering the duration of exclusive breastfeeding, that is, the longer the child receives exclusive breast milk, the higher his Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and consequent neurodevelopment.
