Abstract: Self-medication is a common practice throughout Brazil, and has been widely encouraged by easy and quick access to information on social networks. This paper discusses the impacts and effects of these platforms in promoting the indiscriminate use of drugs such as Semaglutide (Ozempic). Drug initially indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, but widely disseminated and used for aesthetic purposes on these platforms. In this work, a bibliographic review and an analysis of content found on the platforms, Tik Tok, Kwai and YouTube were carried out. The videos were organized into two categories, productions made by health professionals and non-professionals, aspects such as number of likes, information on side effects, mode of use and type of guidance presented were analyzed. The results obtained reveal that videos of non-health professionals obtain a higher number of likes, content that highlights only the benefits, without mentioning the risks and side effects, which can contribute to encouraging self-medication. The responsible performance of health professionals, such as pharmacists, on social networks is essential to provide correct information to the population and avoid the inappropriate use of medicines.
