Abstract: Diabetes is a chronic non-communicable disease and is related to several genetic factors. This disease is characterized by high blood glucose levels. The association of vitamin D supplementation in diabetes mellitus has been the subject of study due to the possible influence of vitamin D on the metabolic aspects of the disease. Studies suggest that vitamin D may play a role in regulating blood glucose levels, improving insulin sensitivity, and reducing the risk of complications associated with diabetes. However, while some studies indicate potential and satisfactory benefits, others show mixed or inconclusive results. The methodology used in this study was a literature review based on articles that brought new perspectives on this topic into focus. It is concluded that the articles researched in the literature review show positive results in the treatment of diabetes.
