Abstract: Informal virtual language is one of the most used by young people, a language that is very different from the official one, it has abbreviations that are not found in the grammar of the Portuguese language, this precedent was understood during this research with the main objective of analyzing the influence of informal virtual language on the teaching and learning process of the Portuguese language with students of the 9th Year of Elementary II (final years) of a state school located in the central urban perimeter of the city of Tefé / AM. Five students and two Portuguese language teachers were interviewed in the second half of November 2024, and the results indicate that the Internet has raised concerns, given that, out of habit, students stop writing correctly to use the wrong abbreviations, thus compromising individual performance. The Portuguese language teachers point out that the use of portable electronic devices, such as cell phones, is possible, as long as it is for research purposes and does not divert them to other functions. They also warn that cell phones cannot replace books, and suggest that the use of the latter has contributed to an improvement in students' spelling, although the desired quality of this teaching process is still a long way off.
