Abstract: The fast-fashion industry is driven by the population's growing desire for novelty in face of a fashion that has become increasingly transitory. At the same time, a greater collective awareness about the evils caused by mass production and unbridled consumption of garments is beginning to be developed, causing textile companies to feel pressured to adopt more sustainable practices, aligned with ESG principles. Given this scenario, this study deals with the importance of implementing ESG practices in the corporate sphere as a way to mitigate the impacts of fast fashion, understanding them as a form to guarantee fundamental rights in the private sector. The study conducts a historical-bibliographical examination of the mass production of clothing and ESG practices and how they have developed over time. Using the inductive method, it analyzes real cases, proposing generalizations from particular premises. The study deduces that although a consumerist culture currently prevails in Brazil, it is the ESG practices that should prevail for managers and CEOs of textile companies, as they can contribute to improving the quality of life of the community and to preserving the natural environment for this and future generations.
