Abstract: Introduction: Family planning is a set of actions aimed at women, men or couples, with global and comprehensive health care, where the Unified Health System must guarantee a comprehensive health care program, aimed at all important cycles across your service network. Objective: to identify, through the scientific literature, the importance of family planning for women's health in Primary Health Care. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, through the Virtual Health Library (VHL), using articles published in LILAC, BDENF - Nursing and MEDLINE, resulting in 4 articles in total. Results: we observed that there is still a strong prevalence of gender inequality, lack of information on the part of women about different contraceptive methods. However, every health professional has a fundamental role in family planning, there is a need for investments in the area, issues must be involved with the population both individually and in groups, the lack of understanding on the part of professionals about what family planning really is and that it is not limited to the prescription of contraceptives. Conclusion: It is concluded that it is indisputable that family planning through Primary Health Care is essential for the promotion of women's health, helping to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, maternal and child mortality, reducing the rate of teenage pregnancy and unwanted, unplanned adolescence, clandestine abortions, in addition to contributing to social problems with birth control in economically disadvantaged families.
