Abstract: This study analyzes the importance of Production Planning and Control (PPC) in the industrial sector, highlighting its functions, tools, and impact on the operational efficiency of organizations. The research employed a qualitative approach, based on a literature review and a case study investigating the practical application of the Kanban tool in the UV Painting sector of a furniture manufacturing company. The theoretical framework covers the evolution of production systems over time and details the main stages and tools of PPC, such as the Master Production Schedule (MPS), MRP, CRP, ERP, Gantt charts, Just in Time (JIT), and performance indicators (KPIs). The case study revealed challenges such as inadequate control of production flow, accumulation of orders at specific stages, and a high rework rate. The implementation of Kanban, using colored cards and work-in-progress (WIP) limits, led to greater organization, improved visibility of the production process, and more efficient prioritization of production orders. The results showed significant improvements: a reduction in average cycle time per batch from 2 hours and 11 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes, a drop in the rework rate from 8% to less than 4%, and smoother operations overall. The study concludes that the structured use of PPC, combined with visual tools like Kanban, supports continuous improvement, enhances operational efficiency, and contributes to industrial competitiveness.
