Abstract: This study analyzes the influence of Christianity on the historical-legal formation of Western and Brazilian law, considering its contribution to the consolidation of legal values, principles, and institutions. It starts from the understanding that, although Brazil is a secular state, the Christian tradition played a relevant role in the construction of the normative bases of law. The general objective is to examine how Christian principles contributed to the formation of Western law and its incorporation into the Brazilian legal system, as well as to identify their permanence in the contemporary context. The research adopts a deductive method, a qualitative approach, and bibliographic and documentary research techniques, with historical-legal and hermeneutical analysis. It concludes that principles such as human dignity, equality, and solidarity have roots in the Christian tradition, although they are currently grounded in secular foundations.
