A IMPORTÂNCIA DO COOPERATIVISMO PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO LOCAL: O CASO DA COEX – CARAJÁS – ESTADO DO PARÁ, BRASIL.
Objetivou-se compreender a relação da atividade de extração de sementes e folhas de jaborandi com a forma de subsistência para as comunidades locais do município de Parauapebas/PA. Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica. O extrativismo e o manejo de produtos florestais não madeireiros na Amazônia são apontados como as principais formas de garantir fonte de renda dessas comunidades. A entidade que representa os folheiros do município é a COEX-CARAJÁS, responsável pelo sustento/renda das famílias.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to understand the relationship between jaborandi seed and leaf extraction activities and the subsistence strategies of local communities in the municipality of Parauapebas, Pará, Brazil. This is a literature review. Extractivism and the management of non-timber forest products in the Amazon are identified as the primary means of ensuring income for these communities. The entity representing the leaf gatherers in the municipality is COEX-CARAJÁS, responsible for the livelihood and income of families.
