Abstract: Cancer is a disease that causes great fear in women, especially when diagnosed in the breasts, as the treatment often affects their personal image. The removal of the breast, hair loss, eyelashes, and eyebrows can be one of the most difficult and fearful stages of the disease, resulting in low self-esteem. Recognizing the relevance of this problem, this study aims to evaluate the self-esteem and well-being of women undergoing breast cancer treatment and how a Biomedical Aesthetician can help improve their self-esteem. The Biomedical Aesthetician is a qualified professional who performs aesthetic procedures and develops new cosmetic products that promote improvements in people's appearance, providing well-being and increased self-esteem. The research method used for this study was a literature review based on articles and websites that address this topic, aiming to provide emphasis and theoretical foundation for the presented research. The field research was conducted with a group of 16 women undergoing cancer treatment, highlighting the important role played by the Biomedical Aesthetician. Throughout the study, the scope of practice of the Biomedical Aesthetician and the procedures they can perform on breast cancer patients will be presented.
