Abstract: This research addresses the importance of welcoming practices in shaping the identity of high school students, a stage marked by intense physical, cognitive, and emotional transformations. Based on bibliographic research and the guidelines of the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC), it aims to analyze the relationship between the sense of school belonging and the formation of student identity, starting from daily welcoming practices in high school. The article is organized into four sections: welcoming and recognition in the school environment; the influence of daily welcoming on the teacher end student relationship; the impact of welcoming on knowledge acquisition; and the concept of a welcoming school according to the BNCC, which emphasizes socio-emotional competencies such as empathy, cooperation, and valuing diversity. The results show that continuous and intentional welcoming fosters self-esteem, autonomy, and engagement, prevents school dropout, and contributes to a humanized and equitable environment. It is concluded that investing in welcoming practices in high school is essential for students’ holistic development and for building an inclusive and transformative educational space.
