Abstract: The search for methods that simplify access to knowledge and stimulate creativity and critical thinking is essential for education, replacing traditional approaches that limit students to passive listeners. The implementation of practical classes improves the teaching-learning process, motivates students and strengthens their relationship with teachers. Applied to the teaching of Biological Sciences, it is crucial to highlight the importance of insects, promoting a practical approach that facilitates overcoming prejudices and understanding their ecological functions. Thus, this study aims to analyze how practical classes in Entomology in higher education can improve students' knowledge and evaluate how the production of entomological collections can influence the teaching-learning process. The research was carried out at the Regional University of Cariri, Cariri Campus, in Missão Velha, with students of the Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences enrolled in the Entomology discipline. The approach adopted was both qualitative and quantitative, with data being collected through electronic forms. The results indicate that the target audience was mainly composed of students aged 22 to 23, who rated the development of the Entomology discipline as “Excellent”. It was also observed that the implementation of practical classes and the production of entomological collections were widely accepted, being classified as positive and significant changes during the course. In the assessment of scientific knowledge on external morphology and classification at the order level, a small percentage of students presented difficulties in associating the concepts. However, most students obtained a correct answer rate of 70%, reflecting the success of the methodology. Therefore, the use of practical classes and the production of entomological collections in the teaching of Entomology contribute to the improvement of the learning of Biological Sciences students, making the content more accessible and understandable.
