Abstract: Introduction: Childhood cancer deserves special attention, as it is accompanied by physical, psychological and social exhaustion and involves high costs in diagnosis and treatment. Nurses play an important role with pediatric cancer patients and their families, providing qualified nursing care. Methodology: An integrative review of the literature was carried out, using the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Virtual Health Library (VHL) and Nursing Database (BDENF) databases, including original articles, articles published between the years of 2013 to 2023, in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Results and Discussion: The findings highlighted the importance of strengthening the professional-patient-family bond, to promote the humanization of care, minimizing the feeling of social isolation of children undergoing treatment. The importance of implementing playful strategies and games in the care process was highlighted, in order to bring the child closer to “childhood”, reducing traumas and fears that arise as a result of the pathology. Conclusions: Finally, there is a lack of studies focused on this topic, reinforcing the importance of new research that seeks to base nursing practice on principles of humanization.
