Abstract: Syphilis, caused by Treponema pallidum, remains one of the most significant sexually transmitted infections in public health, with a concerning increase among adolescents. This age group is particularly vulnerable due to factors such as early sexual initiation, unprotected sexual practices, multiple partners, substance use, and insufficient guidance on prevention. The objective of this study is to emphasize the importance of school-based sexual education in the prevention of syphilis among adolescents. This is a bibliographic review with a descriptive and exploratory design and a qualitative approach. School-based sexual education is a fundamental and strategic tool, as it provides access to reliable information, encourages the adoption of responsible and protective sexual behaviors, and facilitates early diagnosis and treatment. In addition to reducing risky behaviors, it promotes adolescents’ autonomy and responsibility regarding their sexuality. Therefore, investing in continuous sexual education programs in schools is essential for the prevention of syphilis and other STIs, contributing to reduced adolescent vulnerability and the promotion of comprehensive health.
