A IMPORTÂNCIA DA EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL PARA A PROTEÇÃO DOS SABERES TRADICIONAIS DOS POVOS INDÍGENAS NO BRASIL
O presente artigo objetiva a apontar a relevância dos saberes tradicionais dos Povos Indígenas e a necessidade de sua proteção, o que pode ser feito por intermédio da educação ambiental. Especificamente, será realizada uma breve abordagem dos principais eventos históricos mundiais, relacionados às questões protetivas ambientais, a partir da Revolução Industrial, que inaugurou o processo de exploração exacerbada dos recursos naturais e decorreu na crise ambiental atual; na sequência, será destacada a característica de sustentabilidade dos conhecimentos tradicionais dos Povos Indígenas, e, por fim, a educação ambiental como instrumento para assegurar tais práticas, convergentes à manutenção do meio ambiente, tendo em vista o seu amplo alcance e a pretensão de desenvolver o senso de responsabilidade social. As técnicas de pesquisa serão a bibliográfica e a documental, de natureza teórica, com caráter descritivo e qualitativo.

Abstract:
This article aims to point out the relevance of the traditional knowledge of Indigenous Peoples and the need for its protection, which can be done through environmental education. Specifically, a brief approach will be made to the world's main historical events related to environmental protection issues, starting with the Industrial Revolution, which inaugurated the process of exacerbated exploitation of natural resources and resulted in the current environmental crisis; next, the sustainability characteristic of the traditional knowledge of Indigenous Peoples will be highlighted, and, finally, environmental education as a tool to ensure such practices, convergent to the maintenance of the environment, in view of its broad scope and the intention to develop a sense of social responsibility. The research techniques will be bibliographic and documental, of theoretical nature, with descriptive and qualitative character.
