Abstract: Breastfeeding has been considered a natural strategy of affection, protection and nutrition for the child, being an effective intervention to reduce infant morbidity and mortality. it promotes spacing between pregnancies and reduces the incidence of some diseases in women. The Human Milk Banks (BLH) are public initiatives linked to Children's Hospitals and maternity hospitals, responsible for promoting breastfeeding and carrying out the activities of collection, quality control, pasteurization and distribution of pasteurized milk. experience lived during the supervised internship in Social Nutrition, held at the Human Milk Bank of Maternidade Dona Evangelina Rosa, in Teresina-PI.
