Abstract: Introduction: When adopting a cardiac rehabilitation program, the aim is to improve hemodynamics and prevent disease. Although the cost of its application is high and most of the population diagnosed is of low or middle income, exercise protocols can be maintained and collaborate with cost-effectiveness. Objective: To describe cardiac rehabilitation protocols for patients with coronary heart disease and heart failure, in order to show the cost-benefit of the technique applied in hospitals and at home. Methodology: An integrative and descriptive literature review, carried out between February and May 2024, using the PRISMA model for data screening. The PubMed, Cochrane Library and LILACS databases were searched using the following descriptors and Boolean operators: (Cardiac rehabilitation AND Exercise) OR (Cardiac rehabilitation AND Coronary heart disease) OR (Cardiac rehabilitation AND Heart failure) OR (High-intensity interval training AND Cardiac rehabilitation). We searched for productions based on the application of cardiac rehabilitation aimed at physical conditioning in systematic review studies, Last update: 16 de set. de 2024 clinical trials, with the presence of meta-analyses or randomization and prospective studies, between 2019 and 2024, without language restriction. Results: CR programs have been shown to be effective in improving mainly cardiorespiratory capacity. Methods such as HIIT and AT are the most advantageous, but 6MWT, MICT and MISS also show good results. In addition, it is essential to analyze its application both in hospitals and at home for more effective adherence strategies. Conclusion: CR has applicability and efficiency. The implementation of hybrid care modalities is crucial for adherence, and despite the divergence, the methods present good evidence.
