Abstract: Objective: To identify the types of Gymnastics presented in the curricular matrices of Physical Education (PE) courses in the São Roque/São Paulo region. Methodology: Based on a survey of 17 curricular matrices of Physical Education degree courses in operation in 2020, the presence/absence of Gymnastics was classified. Gymnastics categories were classified into eight groups - Acrobatic, Aerobic, Artistic, For All, Rhythmic, Trampoline, following the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) as a reference, and Gymnastics and Does Not Contain, created as a complement by the researcher. Results and discussion: The groups with the greatest recurrence of gymnastics disciplines in the documents researched were: "Gymnastics" and "Artistic Gymnastics". We observed a divergence in the number of gymnastics subjects offered by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the region. Some HEIs offer only one gymnastics subject, while others offer up to six types of gymnastics in their initial training. There was also a convergence of HEIs that had one gymnastics subject, indicating a generalized coverage of the content. Final considerations: The diversification of gymnastic modalities can give value to the expansion of knowledge and body practices if they are developed in a contextualized and critically analysed way. To this end, knowing how and if this curricular component is developed in training courses depends on further research, making it essential to investigate the initial training of PE teachers.
