A GEOGRAFIA E AS DIVERSAS LINGUAGENS: paisagem na literatura de Calvino e Borges
: Este trabalho tem por finalidade refletir sobre a relação entre ciência e arte, mas especificamente, acerca das possibilidades de interlocução entre a Geografia e a literatura à luz da Geografia humanista. Abordará o conceito de paisagem nos contos: “Cidades contínuas” (1972) e Férias num banco da Praça (1963) de autoria de Ítalo Calvino e, o conto “O Aleph” (1949) de Jorge Luís Borges. Tais reflexões serão desenvolvidas a partir dos conceitos de “paisagem container”, “paisagem moderna” e “paisagem esponja”. A partir das análises dos contos de Calvino e Borges, estabelecer essa relação entre Geografia e Literatura, tomando como conceito-chave a paisagem. E, percebendo-a como multidimensional, multitemporal e multiespacial. A metodologia restringiu-se ao levantamento bibliográfico, leitura e fichamento das obras e artigos relativos à temática em questão. O texto este encontra-se estruturado em duas seções principais nas quais serão abordadas a relação entre ciência e arte e as possibilidades de interação entre a Geografia e a Literatura. Conclui-se que a Geografia faz uso da poesia, da música, da pintura e da literatura como forma de expressão. Se a literatura é uma mímese do mundo e a Geografia a apuração crítica dos geógrafos, ambas são representações que permitem tornar o mundo inteligível. A nossa intenção não foi esgotar as reflexões acerca da relação entre Geografia e Literatura, mas apresentar uma contribuição à análise geográfica.

Abstract:
This paper aims to reflect on the affinity between science and art, but specifically on the possibilities of interlocution between geography and literature within a humanist perspective. It will address the concept of landscape in the short stories: “Continuous Cities” (1972) and Vacations on a bench in the Square (1963) by Italo Calvino and the short story “O Aleph” (1949) by Jorge Luís Borges. Such reflections will be developed from the concepts of “container landscape”, “modern landscape” and “sponge landscape”. From the analysis of the tales by Calvino and Borges to establish this affinity between Geography and Literature, taking landscape as a key concept. And, perceiving it as multidimensional, multitemporal and multispatial. The methodology was restricted to the bibliographical survey, reading and listing of works and articles related to the theme in question. The text is structured in two sections; in which the affinity between science and art and the possibilities of interaction between Geography and Literature. It is concluded that the Geography makes use of poetry, music, painting and literature as a way of expression. If literature is a mimesis of the world and geography the critical investigation of geographers, both are representations that make the world intelligible. Our intention was not to exhaust the reflections on the relationship between Geography and Literature, but to present a contribution to geographic analysis.
