A GEOGRAFIA DA RELIGIÃO E SUAS APROXIMAÇÕES DE ESTUDO
O presente trabalho busca apresentar e refletir sobre a trajetória histórica dos estudos religiosos sob a perspectiva geográfica. A partir de pesquisas e análises bibliográficas foi possível compreender que geografia da religião emergiu como um subcampo da geografia cultural no decorrer da década de 1940. Os seus fundamentos teóricos e metodológicos foram influenciados por renomados autores da sociologia, ciências e história da religião. Tendo passado por uma época de transformações e renovações entre os anos de 1960 e 1980, a geografia da religião acompanhou de modo linear o campo da geografia cultural, desde suas origens tradicionais até à vigorosa importância que alcançou na contemporaneidade.

Abstract:
This paper seeks to present and reflect on the historical trajectory of religious studies from a geographical perspective. From research and bibliographic analysis, it was possible to understand that the geography of religion emerged as a subfield of cultural geography during the 1940s. Its theoretical and methodological foundations were influenced by renowned authors of sociology, science and the history of religion. Having gone through a period of transformations and renovations between the 1960s and 1980s, the geography of religion followed the field of cultural geography in a linear mode, from its traditional origins to the vigorous importance it has achieved in contemporary times.
