Abstract: In a world full of technology and daily advances in the media, it has become common and practical to lack interest in formal knowledge. Knowledge that for centuries has driven the human species and its interest in learning more. Today, cell phones, computers and television have become leaders of a new generation, formed from information that does not consider it necessary to prove its veracity. Philosophy, on the other hand, is the mother of all sciences and theories that we have to know, however, before our present days, there were forces opposed to the study and knowledge of this discipline that is not limited to providing ready answers; its main objective is to assist in investigation, debate, reflection and questioning of things as they exist. Paulo Freire, a Brazilian educator with international recognition, was a man who knew how to value human thinking, based on his experiences and learning throughout his life. All forms of knowledge are legitimate and deserve to be valued, as instruments for constructing knowledge. This paper attempts to present some arguments that justify the importance and relevance of philosophy as a discipline of human development, which contributes to both students and educators, to the solid construction of knowledge that will help them overcome obstacles in the academic and educational training of our system. In addition to this, we face an unbridled wave of prejudice and discrimination, seen by many as legitimate and normal. We are the result of a Eurocentric education, where denying one's color, race, religion or even sexual orientation is the best alternative. This article seeks to clarify a little more about education for life, because as human beings, we need to act in such a way.
