A FAMÍLIA COMO BASE: NACIONALISMO, EXÉRCITO E EDUCAÇÃO / THE FAMILY AS A BASIS: NATIONALISM, ARMY AND EDUCATION
Essa apresentação busca propor uma nova forma de entender o nacionalismo brasileiro, principalmente o mais vinculado ao Exército, no século XX. Pretendemos demonstrar como a crescente profissionalização do Exército, tanto em um nível institucional, quanto simbólico, a partir dos anos 1930 contribuiu para o fortalecimento e a consolidação do nacionalismo no Brasil. Além do desenvolvimento industrial que se registrou no período, o desenvolvimento da educação do país também foi responsável por engendrar um “espírito nacional”. Nesse sentido, a formação de um modelo de família militar, baseada em um militar e uma professora normalista, pode nos ajudar a entender a proporção e a capilaridade que o nacionalismo alcançou no Brasil, durante os anos 1930 a 1960.

Abstract:
This presentation seeks to propose a new way of understanding Brazilian nationalism, especially the most closely linked to the Army, in the 20th century. We intend to demonstrate how the increasing professionalization of the Army, both at an institutional and symbolic level, from the 1930s contributed to the strengthening and consolidation of nationalism in Brazil. In addition to the industrial development that was registered in the period, the development of the country's education was also responsible for engendering a "national spirit". In this sense, the formation of a military family model, based on a military officer and a teacher, can help us understand the proportion and capillarity that nationalism reached in Brazil during the 1930s and 1960s.
