A EXPRESSÃO TRADUTÓRIA DE PAULO LEMINSKI: UMA LEITURA DE EZRA POUND, HAROLDO E AUGUSTO DE CAMPOS
Buscando contribuir com a pesquisa da história da tradução no Brasil, investigamos o projeto tradutório do poeta e tradutor curitibano Paulo Leminski. Evidenciamos a influência presente em seu projeto tradutório das ideias do poeta e tradutor norte-americano, Ezra Pound, que instaurou o make it new, baseado na ideia de inserir nova vida ao passado literário por meio da tradução, como também das teorias dos concretistas brasileiros, Haroldo e Augusto de Campos e Décio Pignatari, com quem o poeta curitibano travava intenso diálogo. Estes poetas e tradutores conceberam o processo tradutório como “recriação” do original, em que não se traduz apenas o seu significado, mas também, sua materialidade. Assim, esse método de tradução pretende indicar a função poética da linguagem e repetir a beleza estética do original. No Brasil, a proposta tradutória dos irmãos Campos inaugurou um novo método tradutório e influenciou diversos poetas e tradutores, como constataremos no projeto tradutório de Paulo Leminski. A partir das próprias declarações feitas pelo poeta, em cartas e artigos, sobre seu ato tradutório, verificaremos quais dessas características foram incorporadas por ele e quais ele adicionou seguindo seus próprios interesses.

Abstract:
Seeking to contribute to the research of the history of translation in Brazil, we investigated the translation project of the poet and translator from Curitiba Paulo Leminski. We highlight the influence present in his translation project of the ideas of the American poet and translator, Ezra Pound, who established make it new, based on the idea of inserting new life into the literary past through translation, as well as the theories of Brazilian concretists, Haroldo and Augusto de Campos and Décio Pignatari, with whom Leminski had an intense dialogue. These poets and translators conceived the translation process as a “recreation” of the original, in which not only its meaning is translated, but also its materiality. Thus, this method of translation intends to indicate the poetic function of language and to repeat the aesthetic beauty of the original. In Brazil, the Campos brothers’ translation proposal inaugurated a new translation method and influenced several poets and translators, as we will see in Paulo Leminski’s translation project. From the statements made by the poet, in letters and articles, about his translation act, we will verify which of these characteristics were incorporated by him and which ones he added following his own interests.
