Abstract: Drug excretion is the process by which drugs and their metabolites are removed from the human body. There are several excretion routes that can be used to eliminate medications and their derived substances, such as renal, biliary, pulmonary excretion and extraction through the skin. This study has the general objective of investigating the excretion of medications in the human body. The research was carried out through a bibliographic study that occurred by consulting academic research websites such as BVS, Scielo and Lilacs, selecting materials published in the last 10 years (2014 to 2024); published in the following languages: Portuguese or English. Through the research carried out, it was found that the excretion of medicines plays a fundamental role in human health, as it is responsible for removing foreign substances and their metabolites from the body, ensuring the maintenance of physiological balance and preventing potential damage caused by excessive accumulation of medicines. . By eliminating unused medications or toxic metabolites, the body can avoid unwanted side effects and even serious adverse reactions.
