Abstract: The hospital accreditation process involves a series of rigorous steps that aim to continuously evaluate and improve the quality of services provided by health institutions. This process is based on international criteria and standards that cover several aspects, such as patient safety, risk management, operational efficiency, and quality of care. The active participation of nurses is vital to comply with these criteria, as they are the main executors of care practices and have a comprehensive view of hospital operations. Based on these statements, the question was: What is the scientific production of nurses on the hospital accreditation process? The objective of the research is to understand what was produced by nurses about the accreditation process. METHODOLOGY: This is a narrative review study. The analysis was mediated by the precepts of Bardin's thematic analysis. RESULTS: The following thematic categories were highlighted: The role of nurses in hospital accreditation; 2. The challenges of implementing hospital accreditation; and 3. The accreditation process in health institutions. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Through this study it was possible to identify the scientific production about the hospital accreditation process, the role of the nurse, the challenges and the development of this process to guarantee the quality of care, benefiting not only patients, but also health professionals and the organization as a whole.
