A EMPATIA SOB A PERSPECTIVA DA PSICOLOGIA EVOLUCIONISTA
Cooperar! Colaborar! Ajudar! Se colocar no lugar do outro... enfim, comportamentos potencialmente indicadores de empatia! Esta pode ser compreendida como sendo a capacidade ou habilidade que um indivíduo possui de conseguir se colocar no lugar do outro, isto é, de ser tocado pelo estado emocional do outro. A empatia compõe uma gama de comportamentos pró-sociais que, assim como todo comportamento humano e animal, possui processos evolutivos subjacentes. Ao estudo dos contribuintes evolutivos para comportamentos, com ênfase ao humano, dá-se o nome de Psicologia Evolucionista (PE). Neste capítulo, realizamos uma síntese sobre os principais pressupostos teóricos e históricos da PE e sobre como esta compreende o fenômeno da empatia. Apesar de o assunto ainda não possuir consenso teórico na literatura científica, diversas teorias visam responder questões em aberto sobre as causas, as diferenças de sua expressão entre sexos biológicos, sua ontogenia, fisiologia, dos comportamentos empáticos. Este campo de estudo é cada vez mais explorado e relevante, pois permite a compreensão das origens ao longo da escala filogenética e dos mecanismos evolutivos que culminaram nos mais diversos e complexos fenótipos comportamentais que temos atualmente.

Abstract:
Cooperate! Collaborate! Help! Putting yourself in the other's shoes... well, behaviors potentially indicative of empathy! This can be understood as being the capacity or ability that an individual has to be able to put himself in the other's shoes, that is, to be touched by the emotional state of the other. Empathy comprises a range of prosocial behaviors that, like all human and animal behavior, have underlying evolutionary processes. The study of evolutionary contributors to behavior, with an emphasis on the human, is called Evolutionary Psychology (EP). In this chapter, we summarize the main theoretical and historical assumptions of PE and how it understands the phenomenon of empathy. Although the subject still lacks theoretical consensus in the scientific literature, several theories aim to answer open questions about the causes, the differences in its expression between biological sexes, its ontogeny, physiology, and empathic behaviors. This field of study is increasingly explored and relevant, as it allows the understanding of origins along the phylogenetic scale and evolutionary mechanisms that culminated in the most diverse and complex behavioral phenotypes we currently have.
