A elite política da Bahia no séc. XIX: os membros do Conselho Geral de Província (1828-1834)
Durante os seis anos em que
O Conselho Geral da Província da Bahia
esteve em atividade, de 1828 até 1834, por
ele passaram 47 conselheiros entre efetivos
e suplentes, que tiveram a oportunidade de
conhecer e decidir sobre assuntos e lugares
que estavam a cargo das câmaras municipais.
Nesse artigo pretendemos apresentar quem
foram esses membros da elite política da
Bahia, que se destacaram no conjunto da
sociedade e ocuparam espaços de poder que
lhes permitiram o aprendizado e o exercício da
política. E ainda, discutir como os estudos sobre
esse espaço ampliaram o conhecimento sobre
o Brasil do século XIX, em diferentes níveis de
organização do Estado, e contemplaram um
momento da história da Bahia ainda lacunar,
qual seja, o período entre o pós-independência
e a Regência

Abstract:
During the six years in which
the General Council of the Province of Bahia
was active, from 1828 to 1834, there were 47
councilors (including (regulars and substitutes)
who had the opportunity to learn and decide
about the topics and places in the charge of the
municipal councils. In this article we intend to
examine these members of the political elite of
Bahia who stood out from the whole of society
and occupied spaces of power that allowed
them to learn and practice politics. Further, we
discuss how studies of this space expand our
knowledge of 19th century Brazil, at different
levels of state organization, and contemplate
a little-known moment in the history of Bahia --
the period between post-independency and the
regency
