A EDUCAÇÃO NA DEFESA FUNDAMENTAL DOS DIREITOS HUMANOS
Este artigo é resultado do estudo do livro Educação em Direitos humanos: fundamentos teórico-metodológicos, publicado em 2007, pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba que traz artigos de professores brasileiros renomados sobre a história da educação e dos Direitos humanos. Essa análise crítica se dá, mais especificamente, na terceira parte que trata da educação em direito humanos. O artigo que serviu de base para esta reflexão sobre a educação como uma defesa ética fundamental dos direitos humanos tem como título Da educação como Direito Humano aos Direitos Humanos como Princípio Educativo e foi escrito pela Doutora Adelaide Alves Dias, professora Adjunta do Departamento de Habilitações Pedagógicas do Centro de Educação da UFPB, membro do Núcleo de Cidadania e Direitos Humanos e coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação, da Universidade Federal da Paraíba, onde atua na linha de pesquisa Políticas Educacionais. O resultado da reflexão aponta para a evidência da importância da educação na defesa fundamental dos direitos humanos concluindo que apesar das muitas conquistas, ainda se tem muito a aprender e lutar quando se trata desse assunto, sendo a escola um lugar privilegiado para isso.

Abstract:
This article is the result of the study of the book Education in Human Rights: theoretical and methodological foundations, published in 2007, by the Federal University of Paraíba, which features articles by renowned Brazilian teachers on the history of education and human rights. This critical analysis takes place more specifically in the third part dealing with human rights education. The article that served as the basis for this reflection on education as a fundamental ethical defense of human rights is entitled Education as a Human Right to Human Rights as an Educational Principle and was written by Dr. Adelaide Alves Dias, Associate Professor, Department of Pedagogical Qualifications UFPB Education Center, member of the Citizenship and Human Rights Center and coordinator of the Graduate Program in Education, Federal University of Paraíba, where she works in the research line Educational Policies. The result of the reflection points to the evidence of the importance of education in the fundamental defense of human rights concluding that despite the many achievements, there is still much to learn and fight when it comes to this subject, being the school a privileged place for this.
