A Educação em Direitos Humanos (EDH) constitui-se como elemento central para a formação integral dos estudantes e para o fortalecimento de uma sociedade democrática, plural e socialmente justa (BENEVIDES, 2003; CANDAU, 2012; BOBBIO, 2004). A escola, enquanto espaço de socialização e construção do conhecimento, reflete as desigualdades estruturais da sociedade, manifestadas por meio de preconceitos, discriminação, violência simbólica e exclusão social (BOURDIEU, 1998; SILVA, 2011). Nesse contexto, a EDH apresenta-se como estratégia pedagógica capaz de promover o respeito à dignidade humana, a valorização da diversidade e a construção da cidadania crítica (BRASIL, 2007; ONU, 1948). O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar a relevância da Educação em Direitos Humanos no ambiente escolar, destacando seus fundamentos teóricos, desafios de implementação e contribuições para a formação cidadã. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, baseada em revisão bibliográfica de autores clássicos e documentos oficiais.

  • Abstract: Human Rights Education (HRE) constitutes a central component in the comprehensive development of students and in the strengthening of a democratic, plural, and socially just society (Benevides, 2003; Candau, 2012; Bobbio, 2004). The school, as a space for socialization and knowledge construction, reflects structural social inequalities, which manifest through prejudice, discrimination, symbolic violence, and social exclusion (Bourdieu, 1998; Silva, 2011). In this context, HRE emerges as a pedagogical strategy capable of promoting respect for human dignity, valuing diversity, and fostering critical citizenship (Brazil, 2007; United Nations, 1948). This article aims to analyze the relevance of Human Rights Education in the school environment, emphasizing its theoretical foundations, implementation challenges, and contributions to citizenship education. This qualitative study is based on a bibliographic review of classical and contemporary authors, as well as official documents.
