A EDUCAÇÃO CATÓLICA NO PERÍODO DE REFORMA ULTRAMONTANA EM JUIZ DE FORA/MINAS GERAIS
Procuramos analisar as relações entre a religião prescrita e a religião praticada no interior do movimento de Reforma Católica Ultramontana entre os anos de 1890 e 1958 na cidade de Juiz de Fora, estado de Minas Gerais. Neste período a implantação de medidas reformistas pôde ser mais notado na cidade, em especial no setor educacional, através da fundação de escolas de orientação católica e da busca por influência também na educação laica. A importância destas instituições cresceu gradativamente na cidade tendo servido para disseminar o discurso reformador e contribuir para o controle e manutenção dos comportamentos dos fiéis durante boa parte do século XX.

Abstract:
We analyzed the relations between the prescribed religion and the practiced religion within the Ultramontane Catholic Reform movement between the years 1890 and 1958 in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais state. The implementation of reformist measures was most notable in the city during this period, especially in the educational sector, through the foundation of Catholic-oriented schools and through the efforts to influence secular education as well. The importance of these institutions gradually grew in the city, having served to disseminate the reformist rhetoric and to contribute to the control and maintenance of the behavior of the believers during much of the twentieth century.
