Abstract: This text deals with research carried out at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), entitled Labor Market and Public Policies on Gender and Ethnicity: seeking a dialogue in the field of Human Rights, developed in Gender, Generation and Ethnicity Studies Program: social demands and public policies – PEGGE/PR3/FSS/UERJ. It is the result of studies developed in the master's degree (1989) and doctorate (1998), whose thematic concentration area – gender and ethnicity – has been maintained until the current moment of the teaching career. The post-doctorate in Sociology and Law, at PPGSD/UFF, was carried out from 2018 to 2019, in partnership with the Faculty of Law, at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Research has encouraged implementing actions linked to specific gender and ethnic policies in the labor market. In this text, I’ll highlight reflections regarding gender relations in the university environment. The goals are to analyze: the impact of the Brazilian State's gender and ethnic policies on university courses; partnerships between universities and the labor market in the implementation of new forms of management and incentives for progression in careers that face gender and ethnic discrimination; the potential for changes in public policies regarding gender and ethnicity in the structure of careers in the labor market and offering university training courses that enable future professionals to overcome gender and ethnic-racial discrimination.
