Abstract: With the advances in industries, resulting from the industrial revolution, there was unrestrained use of nature and its services for society as a whole. In this way, the environment began to suffer certain losses, such as deforestation, fires, shortages of certain products used for the common good, such as the type of wood used to build boats/rafts. Building legends expressed, to a certain extent, care and concerns for the environment, in accordance with the surroundings of a given culture and population. Protecting or not protecting the environment has a direct impact on future generations, and depending on how the centuries advance, it determines and compromises the future of entire generations. In light of reflections on development and learning as an intervention instrument to prevent the exploitation and degradation of the environment and, in these terms, enhancing science teaching. Thus, conservation and environmental protection go hand in hand with the purpose of safeguarding natural environments and providing security for both current and future generations.
