A CULPA É SEMPRE DA MULHER! A FUGA DA PERSONAGEM LYDIA BENNET TRANSPOSTA PARA UMA WEBSÉRIE
O romance Orgulho e Preconceito (1813), da escritora inglesa Jane Austen, tem sido adaptado para filmes e minisséries desde o início do século XX. Em 2012, uma produção em formato de websérie atualizou o romance para o século XXI. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries é uma transposição que busca aproximar o texto literário do século XIX do público contemporâneo abordando questões atuais através de mídias sociais. Este trabalho objetiva analisar a forma como a fuga da personagem Lydia é adaptada para a websérie e os recursos midiáticos empregados na construção da narrativa online. A partir de estudos sobre adaptação (HUTCHEON, 2013; SANDERS, 2006), mídia (JENKINS, 2009) e gênero (BOURDIEU, 2005; CAMPOS, 1992; LAURETIS, 2019), episódios da websérie que atualizam a situação de fuga no romance são analisados. Como a fuga com o namorado não seria considerada um escândalo social atualmente, a websérie transpõe o evento narrativo na forma de uma pornografia de vingança. Os resultados da análise revelam como a websérie criou estratégias para engajar o público com a situação vivida por Lydia e suscitou debates sobre relacionamento abusivo e o padrão duplo de julgamento de gênero ainda presente na sociedade. Apesar da atualização dos eventos, a websérie dialoga com o romance de forma que Pride and Prejudice pode ser continuamente percebido em The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

Abstract:
Pride and Prejudice (1813), an English novel written by Jane Austen, has been adapted to films and miniseries since the beginning of the 20th century. In 2012, a web series production updated the novel to the 21st century. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a transposition that brings the 19th century literary text closer to the contemporary audicence by addressing current issues through social media. This research analyzes how the elopement of Lydia is adapted to the web series and the media resources used in the construction of the online narrative. Based on studies on adaptation (BRUHN, 2013; HUTCHEON, 2013; SANDERS, 2006), media (JENKINS, 2009) and gender (BOURDIEU, 2005; CAMPOS, 1992; LAURETIS, 2019), web series episodes that update the elopment are analyzed. As an elopment would not be considered a social scandal nowadays, the web series transposes the narrative event to a form of revenge pornography. The results of the analysis reveal that the web series created strategies to engage the public with the situation experienced by Lydia and generated debates about abusive relationships and the double standards related to gender that remains strong in society. Despite the updating of literary narrative events, the web series dialogues with the novel so that Pride and Prejudice can be continuously noticed in The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.
