Abstract: The present study addressed the relationship between corruption and development, exploring different perspectives and analyzes from different scholars, emphasizing the impact of corruption on the economy and highlighting the negative consequences for economic growth and foreign investment. It offered a comprehensive overview of corruption, highlighting its multifaceted causes, impacts on the economy and society using the COVID-19 pandemic as a significant case study. To this end, our main objective is to analyze the direct effects of the pandemic on companies' performance, internalizing macro-level characteristics, such as corruption, on the performance of these companies in times of crisis, as well as establishing an analysis of the effects of the pandemic on sales. of firms and the impacts of corruption on the performance of organizations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as specific objectives. The methodology applied was through an econometric model and the data was obtained from the World Bank Group's COVID-19 Enterprise Survey Follow-Up database. Descriptive research was carried out, which revealed a wide variation in company growth during the pandemic. The correlation matrix highlighted significant relationships between growth and several variables.The results of the economic model showed that government support and microeconomic characteristics had significant impacts on growth as well as firm performance during this period.
