Abstract: This article shows the context of the teaching of biological sciences in Brazil, where it highlights its importance as a line of teaching and professional training, in addition to highlighting important factors that should be raised debates regarding the problems faced in the teaching of the discipline by teachers when mediating the content and students to expand their knowledge, In the article we highlight the relevance of authors who discussed issues related to the theme such as the importance of practices in teaching and the use of information and communication technologies in the classroom, we highlight the problem about the role of the teacher in the classroom and the great importance of educational institutions and the population in the recognition and expansion of biology as disciplines, as well as the Brazilian government with its development of public policies to solve the problems found in the current scenario of higher education in the country.
