A CONSTRUÇÃO DO ETHOS EM PASSAGEM PARA ARARAT, DE MICHAEL ARLEN
Passagem para Ararat é uma narrativa memorialista escrita por Michael Arlen, em 1978. Nessa narrativa, Arlen reflete sobre o conturbado relacionamento com o pai, Dikran Kouyoumijian, armênio que foi residir nos Estados Unidos em razão do genocídio armênio ocorrido no início do século XX. Este trabalho visa à análise dos recursos e estratégias retóricas utilizadas pelo narrador na construção do ethos dos armênios e da sua ascendência armênia, uma vez que ao estudar a construção do ethos em Passagem para Ararat, é possível evidenciar como se constrói a argumentação do narrador em relação à sociedade, à cultura armênia e também como se reconstrói a imagem do narrador em relação ao pai ao longo da narrativa.

Abstract:
Passage to Ararat is a memoir narrative written by Michael Arlen in 1978. In this narrative, Arlen reflects on the troubled relationship with the father, Dikran Kouyoumijian, Armenian that went to reside in the United States because of the Armenian genocide occurred at the beginning of the century XX. This work aims at analyzing the resources and rhetorical strategies used by the narrator in the construction of the Armenian ethos and their Armenian ancestry, since when studying the construction of the ethos in the Passage to Ararat, it is possible to show how the narrator's argument is constructed in relation to the society, the Armenian culture and also how the image of the narrator is reconstructed in relation to the father throughout the narrative.
