Abstract: The theorist Lawrence Venuti presented in his book, The Translator's Invisibility, the concept of foreignization, which prioritizes the letter and meaning of the original language, and domestication, which adapts to the vocabulary and culture of the target language. These ideas, subject to research and discussion among scholars for decades, are practiced in numerous translation fields daily. With this perspective, this article aims to analyze the concept of domestication in the dubbing of the Pixar animation, "The Incredibles", from 2004, seeking to categorize the use of the technique. For this purpose, a survey of documentary and bibliographic research by theorists Lawrence Venuti, Heloísa Barbosa, and Katharine Barnwell was conducted. The collected data was then applied to a sample of domestication examples found in the first 15 minutes of the film. The formulated divisions can be broken down into nominal aspects, or proper names; cultural, such as slangs and added characteristic expressions; dynamic, aimed at adapting an existing idea; and suprasegmentals, i.e., aspects related to sound. At the end of the research, it becomes evident not only the versatility of the domestication technique in the realm of dubbing, and, therefore, the range of applications it can have in a translational context but also the influence it has on the translation process in Brazil.
