Abstract: Introduction: The organ donation process is complex and begins after obtaining consent from the donor's family (MORAES et al., 2019). For the donor's family, this is a highly stressful moment, as they face the loss of a loved one while having to make a quick decision regarding organ donation. Objective: To analyze the role of nurses in organ harvesting after the diagnosis of brain death. Methodology: This is qualitative research based on an integrative literature review, following the methodological assumptions of Mendes et al. (2008). Data collection was conducted through a survey of scientific articles published between 2019 and 2023 in the SciELO and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases. The final sample consisted of 14 articles, which were analyzed through exhaustive reading and data categorization. Conclusion: The analysis of the evidence will allow for the characterization of the challenges in organ harvesting and transplantation, emphasizing its crucial role in providing a new chance at life for patients suffering from severe illnesses who have not responded to conventional treatments.
