• Abstract:

  Study about the social role of the

  “Social Seed Library “Social Seed Library” in the

  community development of the Itaqui-Bacanga

  area, in São Luís-MA. It highlights that the

  “Social Seed Library” aims to constitute a public

  space, integrated with the structure of the Community Association of Itaqui-Bacanga

  (ACIB) in São Luís, where they are gathered, recovered, organised, preserved and

  disseminated visual, sound recordings, Bibliographies among others related to memory,

  identity, cultural production and sustainable development of the Itaqui-Bacanga

  region. It is also aimed at identifying and cataloguing production over the region and

  maintaining its cultural assets and collections. It presents the data collected through

  the ethnographic method of field research in the said region, in the perspective of

  rescuing the forms as the oral traditions subsisted until today. Shows the activities

  carried out for the creation of the Social Seed library, such as mapping, identification

  and hygiene of the cultural property of the Itaqui-Bacanga area available in the ACIB, in

  addition to the process of representation and description of the resources, aiming at the

  organisation, Recovery and use of the acquis. It infers the role of the social Seed library

  as an important apparatus for political, social and cultural transformation of the area, as

  well as accentuates its informative and educational character for the development and

  preservation of its memory.
