Abstract: This article sought to investigate how the actions of School and Educational Psychology are being developed in the Association of Parents and Friends of the Exceptional (APAE) in the Planalto region of Santa Catarina during the pandemic. This is an exploratory, qualitative, cross-sectional research, which was carried out with psychologists from APAEs in the Planalto region of Santa Catarina through the application of a structured online questionnaire. The results point to the predominance of female professionals, the approach used in the APAEs of the Planalto Catarinense is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, although few professionals have completed postgraduate studies. From the participants' reports, it is evident how challenging it was to act in the COVID-19 pandemic and even more the need for interaction and proximity to people, since the scenario was not favorable for their presence and coexistence. The professionals' report also shows that the COVID-19 pandemic had an influence on their mental health, as already pointed out in the literature on the subject. Faced with a new and still adapting scenario, it is deemed necessary for further research to explore other themes highlighted here, such as the continuing education of professionals, their mental health during the pandemic and other aspects of daily life that can improve the quality of their work in APAEs.
