Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of mortality in Brazil and worldwide, demanding effective prevention strategies. Nursing, especially within primary health care, plays a fundamental role in addressing this issue by promoting health, conducting early screening, and educating the population. This study aimed to analyze the role of nursing in the prevention of CVD in adults through an integrative literature review. The databases SciELO, PubMed, and LILACS were consulted, using the descriptors: "cardiovascular diseases", "prevention", "nursing", and "health promotion". The final sample consisted of 20 articles published between 2015 and 2025. The results show that nursing practice, supported by public health programs such as the Family Health Strategy (FHS), has a significant impact on reducing risk factors and controlling CVD. It is concluded that strengthening the role of nurses, with institutional support and adequate public policies, is essential to improve cardiovascular health indicators in the adult population.
