A ASSOCIAÇÃO ENTRE A TRICOTILOMANIA E OS DISTÚRBIOS PSIQUIATRÍCOS EM ADULTOS: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA DE LITERATURA

A tricotilomania é um transtorno marcado pelo ato compulsivo de tirar pelos e cabelos do próprio corpo. Embora seja um assunto de pouco estudo, os poucos artigos analisados demonstraram uma associação desta condição com outros transtornos psiquiátricos. Tendo isso em vista o presente estudo buscou analisar as associações deste transtorno com os transtornos psíquicos. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, em que foram buscados artigos nas bases de dados National Library of Medicine (PubMed) e Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde (BVS). A busca pelos artigos foi realizada considerando os descritores “trichotillomania”, “mental disorder” e “adults”, utilizando o operador booleano “AND”. Os critérios utilizados para inclusão e exclusão dos artigos analisados foram respectivamente: texto completo gratuito, ensaio clínico controlado, últimos 5 anos de publicação (2018-2023) e artigos em língua inglesa; artigos duplicados e artigos sem nenhuma relação com a temática. A prevalência de transtornos psiquiátricos associados à tricotilomania variou de estudo para estudo. Os transtornos mais citados foram: transtorno obsessivo compulsivo, transtorno depressivo maior, transtorno de ansiedade generalizada e TDAH. Todos os estudos mostram alta prevalência de transtornos psiquiátricos associados à ocorrência da tricotilomania.

  • Abstract: Trichotillomania is a disorder marked by the compulsive act of removing hair from one's own body. Although it is a subject of little study, the few articles analyzed demonstrated an association of this condition with other psychiatric disorders. With this in mind, the present study sought to analyze the associations of this disorder with psychological disorders. This is an integrative literature review, in which articles were searched in the National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases. The search for articles was carried out considering the descriptors “trichotillomania”, “mental disorder” and “adults”, using the Boolean operator “AND”. The criteria used for inclusion and exclusion of the articles analyzed were respectively: free full text, controlled clinical trial, last 5 years of publication (2018-2023) and articles in English; duplicate articles and articles with no relation to the topic. The prevalence of psychiatric disorders associated with trichotillomania varied from study to study. The most cited disorders were: obsessive compulsive disorder, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and ADHD. All studies show a high prevalence of psychiatric disorders associated with the occurrence of trichotillomania.
