Abstract: This article aims to discuss affectivity and the learning and development processes in the context of Early Childhood Education. Of a qualitative nature, a documentary research was carried out in the National Common Curricular Base, in the Federal Constitution and in the Statute of the Child and Adolescent, in order to understand the work proposals for children up to five years old and whether – and how – affectivity is considered. An investigation was also carried out in the CAPES Periodicals Portal in the first half of 2024 with the descriptors “early childhood education” and “affection”, in order to verify how the topic has been treated. The results indicated that early childhood education is a stage of education that must be permeated by educational practices that are guided by and for affectivity, understanding it as a right to citizenship, learning and integral development. Affection constitutes an important link for the teaching and learning process inside and outside the educational space and its absence can cause several problems in the learning processes in early childhood education.
